Picture an immense ocean. An endless sea with translucent waters and mild temperatures. Now imagine that in the midst of this an immense mass of rock rises up from the depths, which is understood to have stood there for eighteen million years, with basalt as its rock base.
 
This subtropical archipelago is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, 500 km from the coast of Africa and 1,000 km from mainland Europe (Portugal is its closest country on that continent). It consists of the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and the uninhabited Selvagens and Desertas islands.
 
Madeira Island, often called the island of eternal spring. The mild climate gives its fame to flowers and vegetation always in splendid growth.
 
There you’ll find two wonderful houses where you can spend your holiday amid the favors of nature and exquisite tradition – Casa das Videiras and Villa Echium. Located in Seixal, in the north of the island, Casa das Videiras is a rustic house, restored and completely modernised. Villa Echium , in the southern part of the island, Garajau,Caniço, is a house built in an elegant area, surrounded by luxurious gardens. Welcome!
 
Madeira itself has an area of 741 Km2 (57 km long and 22 km wide). By air, the island is a one-and-a-half hour flight from Lisbon, and around two-and-a-half to three hours from other major European cities. This is the birth place of the football star Cristiano Ronaldo.
